Wow! I really can’t believe that it’s been almost a year since I posted the first part of my FREE Christmas Heart pattern….. Eventually I’m now getting to share ‘Part Two’ with you but, as the saying goes, ‘better late than never!’
I’m sure you remember this gorgeous quilt! I know that many of you have been inspired after seeing it ‘in the flesh’ here at Love Stitching and, although I have used Christmas fabrics, this design will look fabulous in lots of different colour combinations…..
FREE Christmas Heart Pattern – Part One:
Please see my Blog dated June 1st, 2017
FREE Christmas Heart Pattern – Part Two:
Inner Border (cream) ½m fabric required – cut x 6 Widths of Fabric (WOF) at 2¼”
Outer Border (grey) ¾m fabric required – cut x 7 WOF at 4″
Backing Fabric 3.5m fabric required – cut into two pieces at 1.75m each
Wadding 1.7m length required*
Binding (red) ½m fabric required – cut x 7 WOF at 2½”
*I use Hobbs Heirloom Premium wadding which is 2.4m wide
Making up:
Join short ends of border strips then sew onto quilt edges.
Join the two pieces of backing fabric together along the longest edge.
Make your ‘quilt sandwich’ by layering up your backing fabric, wadding and patchwork Christmas Heart top – tack or use 505 spray to keep all three layers together.
Quilt either by hand or machine – I used my absolute favourite ‘wavy’ machine stitch!
Attach binding.
Enjoy!!
Quilt finishes at 64″ x 57″ (approx) which is the perfect size for snuggling up on the sofa to watch a wee bit of TV!
Please feel free to share your versions of this beautiful quilt with us here at Love Stitching.
Happy sewing!! xx
